Welcome to MenTalk Health – Sittingbourne

We see a lot of pain in our community, and with the recent suicides over the last year, I made the decision to do something about it. Due to the way that most of us are conditioned, Men struggle to be vulnerable and talk about their issues through fear of being weak, judged or having it used against them.

We have created a relaxed group where it’s ok to talk, laugh, share, cry, make new friends and work towards a healthier way of thinking . Please, spread the word, message us your interest, be it you would like to attend or even get involved in some way.

A Welcome From Our CEO

I could say a lot of things to start off our welcome page.

What we have done, what we aim to do or perhaps whittle on about me. Before I do any of the above, I want to say this:

I am so proud of you for reaching out… I want to say that the world is a better place with you in it, and you were given this life because you are strong enough to live it. Believe me, you’re much stronger that you think…Please don’t give up. Everyone creates their own future so be a fighter and stand up for what you deserve. Everything in life is preparation, its hard to see now but this pain you are going through is your biggest teacher, one day your understanding will help save someone else’s life and open doors to a whole existence you couldn’t imagine. Believe me, your family and/or close friends care dearly about you, and if you are struggling to do get through for yourself right now, then fight for the people you love if you feel you have no one in your life right now, I can personally vouch that a whole new existence could be one chance meeting away my friend. Tell yourself “I CAN DO THIS” Go into the Frey, and things can get better. This, is the first step to no longer feeling alone. Welcome to MENTALK HEALTH.

My name is Jason. Creator and CEO of MenTalk Health – Sittingbourne, Swale MenTalk Health and the clinic director of Kent hypnotherapy lounge & well-being clinic on park road.

I have worked with many guys over the years & having personally experienced deep mental struggles – I understand how dark and lonely mental health can get.

We have created a relaxed group where it’s ok to talk, laugh, share, cry, make new friends and work towards a healthier way of thinking regarding many subjects such as:

  • Romantic Relationships: Relationship conflicts, communicating effectively, rekindling the romance, divorce, dating challenges, sexual performance, abandonment issues.
  • Addictions: Porn, alcohol, food (sugar, carbs, binge eating, etc), marijuana, harder drugs, sex and working too much.
  • Managing emotions & mindset: Mental health challenges, anger, depression, anxiety, self worth, losing self control in emotional situations and how to develop a healthier mindset.
  • Family: Traumatic childhood, conflict, family drama, sexual abuse, mental abuse, communicating with family, raising children, how to be a good father, loosing someone, to name a few.

We are also working on monthly/bi monthly activity’s, such as Cinema, walking groups, paint balling, of course disabled friendly access if needed will be considered.

The idea is for those wanting to build a new network of friends outside of their environment have the opportunity to build a healthier social environment if needed.

I specialise in Neurodiversity such as ADHD, BI-POLAR, BPD, Autism and more, this understanding is invaluable at our group and we have many members both service users and staff alike who struggle with such.

Every thing we are doing is FREE, NO CHARGE! I believe mental health should be available to all, regardless of your situation.

We hold set budgets to offer our service users therapy sessions for those who desperately need more specialist individual support. Please spread the word, and remember that each person that helps raise awareness will directly be part of saving lives in our community – we need to make sure that the community knows we are here for them.

In Memory of Ryan Burns

Ryan was a much loved Son, Brother, friend and member of MenTalk.

He was an integral part to the start of the group, not only by being there for fellow members to talk to, but offering ideas and inspiration on what the group could do.

We sadly lost Ryan on the 8th of May 2023 when his body gave up on him.

He leaves behind an unfillable hole and will be forever missed.

FAQs

Absolutely not! It’s never been more acceptable to reach out for help.

The modern life is difficult and complex where we all pickup trauma or ‘baggage’ along the way.

Reaching out and asking for help to deal with this is actually a sign of courage and strength.

The MenTalk Health meeting in Sittingbourne follows a structure.

  • 7 to 7.30pm every casually gathers.
  • Short video on a Mental health topic.
  • Talk by Jason – CEO.
  • Everyone says hi to everyone and shakes each others hand (optional).
  • Those who wish to talk on stage about anything is invited to do so.
  • Quick break for refreshments.
  • Smaller group breakout where guys can talk more freely often on a set topic.
  • Close and depart at 9pm

Attending a meeting where you can discuss all your problems (if you wish) with other, fully supportive men, allows you to unburden yourself.

Many of those who join us regularly often find themselves leaving happier for sharing and listening to their fellow man.

Off the back of this, when being happier within yourself, you will become a better man yourself. This extends further to being a better partner, father, brother or friend.

When we are happier in ourselves, life gets better as do our relationships.

Yes it is. Although not everyone does get nervous, many do get nervous over the initial meetings. It’s new, your meeting strangers, you’re worry about being judged, of course it’s normal to be nervous.

The good news is, the group is not about judging, it’s about support and you will be welcomed in.
